Baker's Dozen

Artists discuss the 13 records that shaped their lives

3. Daft PunkDiscovery

When I was younger, I would watch a lot of MTV and VH1. Because of Daft Punk’s Interstella 5555, a lot of my earliest memories are watching ‘Harder, Better, Faster, Stronger’ and ‘One More Time’. I would be obsessed with these music videos. Any time they would be on, I would have the best time.

Watching those music videos gave me a full understanding of what music can be when it’s audiovisual. There was such fun in these music videos. The detachment of a human form and having this representation of these really nice characters being at play was super nice as well. It felt quite friendly and childlike, in a strange way. So I really loved the illustration and animation of it all.

Selected in other Baker’s Dozens: Georgia, , , Lorenzo Senni, Bob Mould
